Milestone 5A is concerned with the starshade petal subsystem. The 5A milestone definition submitted in 2018 allocated 1.00 × 10−11 instrument contrast to KPP5, which translated to the shape sta- bility after thermal and deploy cycles needing to be consistent with a total pre-launch shape accuracy within ±70 μm. However, a new envelope value of ±95 μm was determined to produce the same instrument contrast and better represents the physical response of the actual hardware.
